怎樣寫(xiě)你的目標(biāo)

　　每個(gè)申請(qǐng)MBA的人都要吞一塊“硬骨頭”——寫(xiě)論文（Essay），論文要求你：
（一）評(píng)價(jià)你的事業(yè)；
（二）表述的目標(biāo)；
（三）說(shuō)明你為什么申請(qǐng)這個(gè)商學(xué)院。

　　-Why are you seeking an MBA from the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business? What do you hope to experience and contribute? What are your plans and goals after you receive your degree (750 words maximum). 這是今年芝加哥商學(xué)院的典型問(wèn)題。

　　-Briefly assess your career progress to date. Elaborate on your future career plans and your motivation for pursuing a graduate degree from Kellogg (One to two double spaced pages).
這是凱洛克商學(xué)院的另一版本。

　　-Please discuss the factors influencing the career decisions you have made that, in turn, have led you to your current position. Why is now an appropriate time to pursue an MBA, and what will you contribute to the class entering in the fall of 2000? What are your career goals for the future, and how will you avail yourself of the resources at the Wharton School to achieve these goals? 沃頓商學(xué)院的類似問(wèn)題似乎問(wèn)得更為具體。

　　實(shí)際上，最難的問(wèn)題是關(guān)于你的目標(biāo)。申請(qǐng)者很容易闡述自己的事業(yè)，因?yàn)樗鼈儗?shí)際存在，但當(dāng)被問(wèn)到未來(lái)的目標(biāo)，許多人都沉默了。目標(biāo)并非沒(méi)有，而是難以闡述，因?yàn)榇蠖鄶?shù)人的目標(biāo)是不具體的，只想追求一種更好或更有成就感的生活。而這，很難打動(dòng)人心。

　　無(wú)論如何，要寫(xiě)好你的目標(biāo)，仍有很多你應(yīng)該熟記于心的要點(diǎn)和絕對(duì)應(yīng)該避免的問(wèn)題。

　　1. 在你過(guò)去經(jīng)歷的基礎(chǔ)上構(gòu)筑你的目標(biāo)。

　　最好在你過(guò)去經(jīng)驗(yàn)的基礎(chǔ)上對(duì)未來(lái)的目標(biāo)加以人格化和多方面的陳述，而不是單純說(shuō)你的“希望”。這樣，你的目標(biāo)是從過(guò)去發(fā)掘并積累而成的，它們有“現(xiàn)實(shí)”作為生長(zhǎng)土壤，不空洞，也不生硬。

　　所以不要說(shuō)“My goal is to become a consultant to high-tech firms starting business in Asia”，最好的說(shuō)法是“Based on my experiences working in India and Hong Kong as a programmer and business analyst, and on my project leader work at Cenco Corporation in Singapore, my long term goal is to return to this area and start a consultancy advising large technology companies how to 'do business' as an employer in these countries.”。

　　而且你的目標(biāo)最好是人格化的，有特色的，感人的。許多申請(qǐng)者要成為咨詢顧問(wèn)、投資銀行家、股票投資商或是高科技公司的總裁。而你能夠從過(guò)去的經(jīng)歷建立一個(gè)的目標(biāo)，它們就變得既有趣又富有人情味。

　　2. 把你的目標(biāo)分成階段性。

　　想使你看起來(lái)很有理性，對(duì)人生深思熟慮，最好把你的目標(biāo)分成階段性：長(zhǎng)期目標(biāo)、中期目標(biāo)和MBA畢業(yè)后的短期目標(biāo)。分段構(gòu)思使你能夠真正達(dá)到長(zhǎng)期目標(biāo)，而且讀來(lái)也十分可信，同樣為你攻讀MBA提供了合理的解釋。學(xué)校能在成千上萬(wàn)的人中發(fā)現(xiàn)你就是因?yàn)樗鼈兇_信你知道畢業(yè)后什么工作最適合你（他們同樣想知道這種工作是否可能實(shí)現(xiàn)，是否其他畢業(yè)生已擁有同樣的工作，你也應(yīng)該在寫(xiě)之前看一看）。應(yīng)該與學(xué)校的Career Office聯(lián)系，了解最近的畢業(yè)生從業(yè)情況，你對(duì)自己未來(lái)事業(yè)的描述必須有同樣的起點(diǎn)。

　　3. 使用“Interests”和“Could Take The Form”的句型來(lái)寫(xiě)長(zhǎng)期目標(biāo)。

　　不要在撰寫(xiě)長(zhǎng)期目標(biāo)時(shí)將工作寫(xiě)的過(guò)于具體明確，只需指出工作技能和你所感興趣的領(lǐng)域，比如領(lǐng)導(dǎo)、創(chuàng)立公司、戰(zhàn)略、營(yíng)銷、管理等。想使它具體化，你可以把這些興趣和技能寫(xiě)到工作上的具體應(yīng)用。例如：

　　Based on my leadership and cross-functional team experiences as the SDK Laser X-Ray project leader at Medco in California , and as a marketing specialist at Jetco in Shanghai, my long-term career objective is to use my technical and marketing know-how and leadership skills to help China obtain high-tech medical equipment. This goal could take the form of my starting a company in China to import or distribute such equipment, or my heading the division of a large American high-tech medical device firm such as X-med, Y-med, or Z-med with production for the Asian market as its goal.

　　My short-term goal after my MBA is to move from R&D to general management in a health care technology company such as X or Y. My five-year plan is to gain experience in various aspects of the health care technology business including business development, marketing, operations and strategy and also to establish my credibility in running a medium-sized organization.

　　4. 談?wù)撃愕拈L(zhǎng)期目標(biāo)時(shí)，列出你心中一兩位英雄，或者你心中最欣賞的公司。

　　如果能夠列舉出你欽佩的商業(yè)人物，一定能為論文增強(qiáng)說(shuō)服力。也可以列出公司名稱，根據(jù)上面的舉例，應(yīng)該寫(xiě)成：

　　Based on my experiences as the SDK Laser Widget team leader at Medco in California , and as a marketing specialist at Jetco in Shanghai, my long term career objective is to use my technical and marketing know-how and leadership skills to help China obtain high-tech medical equipment.

　　I am greatly impressed by such companies as IndusMed and BengalRx which have specialized in bringing hi-tech medical devices to the Indian marketplace and I hope to replicate some of their success on the Chinese Mainland. Also, Sammy Lee, the Chinese Minister of Hi-Tech, is a personal hero of mine for his efforts to make technology bridges with Western suppliers. Mr. Lee's own company, Go-Go East, which is the leader in supplying Chinese and Hong Kong casinos with the latest in Western hi-tech gambling technology, is a good sign that China may soon be open to medical devices as well.

　　有一點(diǎn)不要忘記，提到這些公司和人名的時(shí)候，只須有限地提及一兩句，舉出實(shí)際的名稱當(dāng)然證明你知道你在談?wù)摰闹攸c(diǎn)，但文章的重點(diǎn)是你自己。

　　5. 不要寫(xiě)行業(yè)或工作報(bào)告，只要寫(xiě)你的目標(biāo)。

　　文章要求的是你和你的目標(biāo)，錄取委員會(huì)想了解你的經(jīng)歷和你的思想，所以千萬(wàn)不要走題。常見(jiàn)的錯(cuò)誤是申請(qǐng)者把一段關(guān)于他們未來(lái)從事行業(yè)的報(bào)告插進(jìn)來(lái)，遲遲不能進(jìn)入正題。如果你的目標(biāo)是進(jìn)軍電子商務(wù)業(yè)，你不用寫(xiě)200字介紹什么是電子商務(wù)，為什么它會(huì)持續(xù)發(fā)展。很簡(jiǎn)單，如果你的目標(biāo)是在亞洲工作，錄取委員會(huì)不需要了解為何亞洲經(jīng)濟(jì)在90年代衰敗以及它為何會(huì)再度興起。 　　6. 把資料集中在一起。

　　對(duì)許多學(xué)校而言，你的目標(biāo)應(yīng)該是大約200字的東西。就想下面所列出的模式一樣：
